Citicoline enhances the action of the reticular formation activating system which is closely related to conciousness.
Citicoline enhances the action of pyramidal system and improves motor paralysis.
Citicoline increases cerebral oxygen consumption and promotes cerebral metabolism. A large dose of Citicoline (>500 mg, single dose) increases cerebral blood flow and improves cerebral circulation.

Acute Stage: Unconciousness following cerebral trauma, traffic accident and brain operation.
Neural and psychiatric disorders (hemiplegia, dyskinesia, motoring apoplexy, head injury and cerebral operation.

500 mg per day

For the acute severe case of progressive disturbance of conciousness, antihemorrhagics or brain pressure decreasing agents should be given concomitantly and the body temperature maintained at a low level.
When intracranial bleeding is still present, a large dose (>500 mg, single dose) should be avoided, as it may accelerate cerebral blood flow. In this case, a lower dose (100-200 mg 2-3 times daily) is recommended.
